New Report Shows Significant Increases in PQRS and eRx Program Participation in 2012

Today, CMS released the 2012 Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) and Electronic Prescribing (eRx) Experience Report

[ZIP – 3.74 MB], highlighting a significant increase in participation in both the PQRS and eRx programs.

Report Highlights
The increased participation in both programs marks exciting progress in CMS’ efforts to improve quality measurement.

PQRS participation highlights from 2012:

Participation in the PQRS program increased by 36% from 2011.
435,931 out of 1,201,362 eligible professionals participated in the 2012 PQRS program.
PQRS participation was highest among eligible professionals who treated the most Medicare patients.
2012 incentive payments for the PQRS program totaled $167,815,193.
eRx participation highlights from 2012:

Participation in the eRx program is up by 22% from 2011.
344,676 out of 778,904 eligible professionals participated in the 2012 eRx program.
eRx and EHR alignment helped reduce eRx payment adjustments by half in 2012.
2012 incentive payments for the eRx program totaled $335,331,216.
